Rita Dibert ( b. 1946, Flint Michigan,USA), emigrated to New Zealand in 1995 drawn by their anti-nuclear stance and the opportunity to design the darkrooms and curriculum at the Quay School of the Arts in Whanganui. 

Trained in Painting and Printmaking at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor,  ( BFA, MFA) and Graphic Design, Exhibitions and  Computer Applications to Art at the Visual Studies Workshop, State University of New York  at Rochester (MFA) she is involved in all aspects of photography as well as photo applications to painting. Rita has also installed “ Artist’s Home” themed  installations in many locations in the United States and in the Sarjeant Gallery Dome Space in Whanganui.

Rita taught Photography, Drawing and  Photo Art History at the Quay School of Art from 1995-2015. Previously,  she taught at The University of Michigan Residential College, Hartwick College (NY), Pomona College (CA), Claremont Graduate School (CA) as well as The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
